| The North Beaches area is home to
some of the fastest growth on the East coast. Beautiful Beaches are
complimented with large homes ranging anywhere from 2,000 square feet to 8,000 square
feet. Pine Island is the Community noted for some of the most upscale Homes on

Soundfront with a wonderful Village Commercial area with many shops and restaurants - many
overlooking the SOUND. There is a sidewalk which extends north / south along
Duck Road for pedestrian travel - great for getting into the Village on foot, bike or
rollerblade. Duck is noted for its extremely High Dune Elevations....some
places with both Ocean and Sound Views! |

Brown Welcome Center at the 1 Milepost! The Town is mostly noted for its name
- which is synonymous with the WRIGHT BROTHER'S FIRST FLIGHT... which actually took place
in what is now the Town of Kill Devil Hills. |

Island ... is most noted for the community of Colington Harbour! The Harbour
is a gated community with mostly year round residents. The Water plays a major
part as it surrounds the Island, and makes its way into the Marina/Harbour, and deep-water

There is also a sandy beach/picnic area on the Soundfront, Pool, and
Clubhouse. Outside of the Harbour there are many wonderful Year Round
communities... Waters Edge, Bay Cliff, Swan View Shores, and Cliffs of Colington! |

Elementary
schools (K-5) are located in Kitty Hawk, Kill Devil Hills, and Manteo. Middle
schools (6-8) are located in Kill Devil Hills and Manteo. The high school is
located in Manteo. See below for names and phone numbers for the various

The Outer Banks will soon (2004) welcome the completion of the "First Flight
High School". This school will located adjacent to the elementary and
middle school and with a bird's eye view of the "Wright Brother's memorial"!

The College of
the Albemarle (COA) serves the Outer Banks through its main campus in Elizabeth City and
its branch campus in Manteo. COA is a public two year community college
offering programs in business administration,
computer programming, microcomputer technology, real estate, hotel and restaurant
management, adult basic literacy, English as a second language, and review for the GED
examination.
